Robert Downey Jr Joins Captain America 3

Marvel is about to break apart their cinematic universe in 2016. Variety is reporting an exclusive story that Tony Stark will join the untitled Captain America 3 and go head to head against Steve Rodgers.

The movie will reportedly have the subtitle of either Civil War or Fallon Son. Regardless of the subtitle, the plot will remain the same. Due to the fallouts of Avengers: Age of Ultron, Stark will look to get the Superhero Registration Act moving and get anyone with super powers to register with him.

For those of you are not familiar with the Civil War comic storyline, which Marvel is remaking in 2015, Stark believes superheroes should register but Rodgers does not agree. This causes an all-out war between the two former friends and a costly end to Captain America.

One of the big parts of the storyline happens to be Spider-Man. Now there have been rumors that he could come back to Marvel sooner rather than later, but this seems to soon. He is uneasy on which side to choose and is recruited by both to join their side. They could easily change who this person is or write it out entirely.

Anthony and Joe Russo have their hands full again but reportedly want much more. Variety is also reporting that Marvel is eyeing the Russo brothers to direct not only Avengers 3 but also Avengers 4, due to Joss Whedon's contract running out.

We know that Captain America, Falcon, Iron Man, and likely Bucky Barnes, the Winter Soldier, and Crossbones. Crossbones and Bucky are very interesting pieces to the puzzle. In the original comic story, Crossbones snipes Captain America after being arrested by Stark and SHIELD. Bucky on the other hand blames Stark for the death of his friend and decides he needs to kill him.

This storyline will truly test the loyalties of all of Marvel's characters. With Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch, Vision, War Machine, Black Widow, and Hawkeye all rumored to appear in the movie, and possibly on Captain America's side, who helps Stark should be fascinating.

Now this is just my own speculation but what if Crossbones and Bucky decide it's best to register after seeing all the death and destruction they helped cause over the years. Having Bucky be against him again would certainly tear Rodgers apart inside and make him want to defeat Stark even more.

Stark will undoubtedly survive this and his reported $40+ million payday for appearing in the movie. This could open the possibility of Stark to jump from film to film and continue to be the face of Marvel for many more years. Could Stark eventually join the Guardians or perhaps cameo on Agents of SHIELD as he has stated he would enjoy? Only time will tell, but for now, enjoy this exciting news!

Marvel Weekly News #7

This week was full of speculation in the Marvel universe. New York Comic Con has been going on this week and many people want the Daredevil suit to be revealed but it has not, as of yet. The future of the Avengers cast and who and who won't be in it has also been a highly talked about subject. We also got another mysterious casting for Ant-Man and the third episode of Agents of SHIELD.

Main Avengers not in Avengers 3
Early this week Devin Faraci of Badass Digest reported that some of our favorite Avengers could be held out of Avengers 3 so Marvel can use the actors in a mega event later on. He reported that Avengers 3 will not be split into two movies but "as the springboard... to something else." If this report is in fact true, Marvel could hold out the likes of Thor, Captain America, Hulk, and maybe more to have newcomers like Ant-Man, Doctor Strange, and possibly Ms Marvel or Black Panther help previous Avengers save the planet. The most intriguing part of this report is the "something else" Marvel has planned. Could we see their take on Civil War, Secret Wars, or could this "something else" be a mega team up to stop the mad titan Thanos? We will have to wait and see.

Martin Donovan Joins Ant-Man
Ant-Man is currently in production and while we know details of the plot, many of the actors and actresses roles in the movie remain a mystery. That list grew larger this week when The Holleywood Reporter reported that Martin Donovan has been added as a "pivotal" but hidden role. What role would you like to see Martin Donovan take up?

Spider-Man Joining Avengers?
Along with new faces joining future Avengers movies, reports surfaced this week that we could see our favorite web-slinger join sooner rather than later. HitFix reported that they have heard rumblings that Sony and Marvel are once again talking about how to get Spider-Man on screen with Marvel's cinematic universe. They talked back before The Avengers came out to include Oscorp Tower in the skyline but unfortunately it was too late in the process to feature it. According to the report, Marvel wants to be able to use all of their characters in this universe they are creating, even if that means helping out Sony. Throwing Spider-Man into Avengers 3 with Iron Man, Hawkeye, Doctor Strange, and more would get people even more excited for the third chapter before Avengers: Age of Ultron even gets a trailer. They could also hold him out until that "something else" Faraci talked about. Either way, getting Spider-Man back into the hands of Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios is the best scenario for fans.

Robert Downey Jr. Future With Marvel
Robert Downey Jr. has been making the rounds promoting his new movie The Judge and has not been able to avoid questions about the possibility of Iron Man 4 and other possibilities with Marvel. On The Ellen Degeneres Show, he jokingly said that it is happening but later said that it is not part of the current plan. He did reveal that him and Marvel are talking about his contract and seeing what they could do, and what it would cost them, to get Downey to stay the face of the universe for many more years to come. Even if Tony Stark is not Iron Man and just is a behind the desk man, his presence in the world as a Nick Fury-esque character is something Marvel knows would keep fans incredibly happy.

Agents of SHIELD Episode 3
Agents of SHIELD continues to improve in season 2 and this week debuted episode 3, "Making Friends and Influencing People." You can read our full review on the episode here.

Official Daredevil Synopsis revealed
Today we got our first official synopsis for the Daredevil Netflix series. The synopsis is " 'Marvel's Daredevil' is a live action series that follows the journey of attorney Matt Murdock, who in a tragic accident was blinded as a boy but imbued with extraordinary senses. Murdock sets up practice in his old neighborhood of Hell's Kitchen, New York where he now fights against injustice as a respected lawyer by day and masked vigilante at night." Daredevil stars Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock and will debut on Netflix in early 2015.

Agent Carter Finds Another Agent
Kyle Bornheimer has been added to excellent Agent Carter cast as Agent Ray Krzeminski. He will reportedly clash with Hayley Atwell's Peggy Carter as they try to protect the world.

Agents of SHIELD Season 2 EP 3 Review

Marvel's Agents of SHIELD has been an up and down roller coaster since the show premiered last fall. After the first two episodes of this season seemed to show an improved story and characters, even with diminishing ratings, many people expected this week's episode to continue on that trend.

While this episode was good, in parts, it did not live up to recent episodes. "Making Friends and Influencing People" was jumbled to say the least. Introducing Agent 33 in the beginning, bringing back Simmons and Donnie Gill, and a storyline that did not progress many aspects of pre-existing stories are just a small sample of the many things jammed into this episode.

As mentioned in past reviews, Fitz continues to deliver the best moments of the show. I cannot say enough about how good Iain de Caestecker has been, especially this season. His scene this week where he finds Ward in the basement of The Playground was phenomenal. Dylan Minnette also delivered what I thought was a strong performance as Donnie Gill.

This week's episode also has hit a new series low in TV ratings according to reports. If you enjoyed this week's episode and Agents of SHIELD  as a whole, spread the word to friends, family, and strangers! Check out the promo for episode 4 "I Will Face My Enemy" below, featuring a dancing Philinda.

Marvel Weekly News #6

This was a busy week for Marvel news. We got new casting news for Agent Carter and Agents of SHIELD. There were also casting rumors for Luke Cage and Doctor Strange. We also got news about some possible cameos in Agents of SHIELD, Mockingbird being promoted, and a look at Hank Pym's company.

Agent Carter Now Filming
The highly anticipated eight episode Agent Carter series started filming early this week. Hayley Atwell will star in the series but we also got news of another familiar face returning to the show. Marvel announced that Dominic Cooper will reprise his role as Howard Stark in the Agent Carter television series.

New Characters Coming to Agent of SHIELD?
Marvel is trying to drive up viewership for Agents of SHIELD and one of the best ways to do it is to incorporate more Marvel characters. This week speculation that characters like Speedball and Hercules could make an appearance in the show. Fran Kranz, who has worked with Whedon on many projects, tweeted (and then deleted) this week that Robbie Baldwin is coming to Agents of SHIELD. Marvel has also added Maya Stojan as Agent 33 in the show. In the comics Agent 33 is the one who recruits Hercules to join the Avengers.

Ant-Man has Lots of Grey
An interview done by Corey Stoll became popular this week in which he talked about the grey areas of Ant-Man. Stoll told Clevver Movies that everyone in the movie is in shades of grey. He also said that Yellowjacket is not the traditional villain and that he does not really know that he is a villain. Could this mean that Yellowjacket could turn into a hero down the road?
Pym Technologies Logo
This week an extra on Ant-Man decided to post a picture of him in costume on Instagram. Unfortunately for him, he has been fired. The picture was a bit revealing. As you can see, the picture revealed the name and logo of Hank Pym's company, Pym Technologies. This is the first look we have gotten for anything from the set of Ant-Man.

Episode 2 of Agents of SHIELD
Agents of SHIELD continues to push forward in its second season. This week gave us "Heavy Is The Head", where we saw the team hunt down the Absorbing Man. You can read our full review of the episode here which also includes a preview for next week's episode.

Tim DeKay Joins Agents of SHIELD
Marvel continues to add to the Agents of SHIELD season 2 cast this week by adding the brother of ex-HYDRA agent Grant Ward. Tim DeKay will join the show in episode 6 as Senator Christian Ward. Do you think he will be a friend or foe of SHIELD?

Mockingbird Moving to Big Screen?
Adrianne Palicki's Agents of SHIELD debut is quickly approaching. She has been asked many questions about what exactly her role will be and while we know she will start off as a member of HYDRA, many of us want the folks at Marvel to move her to the big screen. According to Palicki, that has been discussed and continues to be discussed. I would love Palicki to be in Avengers: Age of Ultron or Captain America 3, what would you like?

Dule Hill as Luke Cage?
One of the weirdest rumors of the week came courtesy of a user on ComicBookMovie.com. The user "rageduck" claimed to have inside sources who told him that the star of Psych, Dule Hill, had been cast as Luke Cage for Marvel's upcoming Netflix series. The casting seemed strange at the time and within 12 hours that report was proven to be false. Dule Hill himself tweeted that he has not been cast in the role and the article that started it all was removed from comicbookmovie.com.

Phoenix Out as Strange
Earlier this week, Collider.com reported that Joaquin Phoenix was going to be our Doctor Strange and it was just a matter of time before Marvel made the announcement. A few days later though, Joaquin Phoenix and Marvel decided to part ways after not being able to agree to a deal. Marvel had been looking at Phoenix since Comic-Con but his unwillingness to sign a long-term deal and weariness about doing a movie involving a lot of green screen and special effects ultimately was too much to overcome. Marvel will likely look back to previously rumored actors like Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Hardy, Jared Leto, and more to fill the role.
Daredevil Logo
Marvel announced a while back that the Daredevil cast would be present at New York Comic Con. They revealed this week that the cast will be doing a meet and great and signing autographs when the convention kicks off next week. With that announcement, they revealed the official logo for the Daredevil Netflix series, which you can see on the left.

Agents of SHIELD Season 2 EP 2 Review

Marvel's Agents of SHIELD continues to change the characters fans grew to love in season 1, whether we like it or not. In "Heavy Is the Head," more changes to the lives and personalities of Coulson, Fitz, and even Simmons were glimpsed and touched upon. Between the meaner and slightly crazier Coulson and the depressed and delusional Fitz, the Agents of SHIELD team continues to change.

Last week's premiere brought the likes of Isabelle Hartley, Lance Hunter, Idaho, and Mack to the team. Unfortunately, Hartley and Idaho had a very short tenure on the show. They both were announced dead from the hands, or should I say concrete body, of Carl Creel, the Absorbing Man. The main team now consists of Coulson, May, Skye, Triplett, Fitz, Mack, and Hunter.

"Heavy Is the Head" continued on the strong path as the premiere but also had some of the recurring problems of the series. So far this season we have been given more questions than answers. This episode did answer the fate of Isabelle Hartley did not do much of anything to address the biggest questions surrounding the series. While we did get some insight on Coulson's "episodes", the show needs to quickly give us a reward for these mysteries and not drag them out all season long.

On a positive note, Henry Simmons, who plays Mack, and Iain De Caestecker, Fitz, give the best performances of the episode. While many of us do not like the direction that sad Fitz is in and is heading, the dialogue all episode between him and Mack was fantastic. Much like last season's bromance between Fitz and Ward, it looks like a new bromance is forming and I love it.

Kyle MacLachlan also made his Agents of SHIELD debut as Skye's father. Raina brought him the 0-8-4, in which he showed her she can not be harmed by touching it. For answers on why she was not harmed, Raina must bring Skye to her dad so they both can be informed of their origins.

The promo for next week's episode "Making Friends and Influencing People" is exciting to say the least. As you can see below, next week's episode will feature the return of Donnie Gill and also a new (HYDRA?) version of Simmons!
