There is only word that could describe this past week for Marvel- amazing. Spider-Man is now a part of the MCU! Among all the Spider-Man news, there was also a rumor of a female director getting eyed to direct a future Marvel movie. Marvel also announced that Lady Sif will return to Agents of SHIELD and a new episode of Agent Carter premiered. Marvel and Sony have started eyeing a potential Peter Parker, Samuel L. Jackson revealed his contract status, there was another addition to the Agents of SHIELD cast, and one Agents of SHIELD character getting promoted.
Angelina Jolie Next Marvel Director?
Earlier this week, OK! Magazine reported that Marvel was looking at Angelina Jolie to direct one of their future movies. According to their report, Marvel offered Jolie a whopping $20 million to direct. If Jolie was chosen to direct a movie, it would likely be Marvel's first female lead movie in Captain Marvel.
Lady Sif Returning to Agents of SHIELD
We are only a few weeks away from the return of Agents of SHIELD and Marvel announced that a guest star from season 1 is coming back. In episode 12, Lady Sif (Jaimie Alexander) will make her second appearance on the show. She will not be herself and will face off against a mysterious super powered person. Spider-Man Officially in MCU
After the many reports involved in the Sony Hack, Sony and Marvel finally agreed to terms on Spider-Man being in the MCU. Read more about the ground breaking deal here. The result of Spider-Man joining the MCU meant that Marvel had to change some release dates.
Agent Carter EP 6
Agent Carter's first season is coming to a close and this week the sixth of eight episodes premiered. With Peggy on the run from both the SSR and Dottie, she had her hands full. Read my full review of the episode here.
O'Brien and Lerman Eyed for Spider-Man
With Sony and Marvel striking a deal for Spider-Man, they need a new actor to portray Peter Parker. I've made a list of Five Possible Spider-Man Actors that I'd like to see be the next Peter Parker, and it appears that Sony and Marvel agree about two of them. The Hollywood Reporter and Variety are reporting that Dylan O'Brien and my top choice Logan Lerman are being considered for the role.
Samuel L. Jackson's Contract Status
Nick Fury has been the man to hold the Marvel cinematic universe together since his first post credit appearance in Iron Man. He is set to appear in Avengers: Age of Ultron which will mark his sixth movie appearance. This week Samuel L. Jackson told IGN that he only has two more movies left on his contract. He will likely appear in Captain America: Civil War and that would leave one appearance on his current contract. Jackson said he would be up for more should Marvel extend his contract.
Drea de Matteo Joins Agents of SHIELD
Agents of SHIELD has been impressive during the first 10 episodes of its second season and it has beefed up the cast before it returns from the winter break. They've added the likes of Blair Underwood, Luke Mitchell, and Edward James Olmos and now have added one more. Drea de Matteo has also joined the cast as a villain. Read more about her addition here.
Mockingbird Promoted to Season Regular
When it was announced that Adrianne Palicki would be portraying Mockingbird in Agents of SHIELD, it was speculated that her role would eventually become more. She has now been promoted to a season regular on the show. Hopefully we will get to see much more of Mockingbird on the small screen as well as the big screen.
