This has been one of the craziest weeks for Marvel and superhero movies in general in quite some time. New York Comic-Con wrapped up last weekend and then a new Iron Man report turned the world upside down. There was also a lot of news for the race to be Doctor Strange and also our first set photos for Ant-Man.
Daredevil Cast and Costume
Late last Saturday, Marvel had their Daredevil panel at NYCC. During that panel they revealed a slew of new casting additions, showed exclusive footage to the audience, and gave everyone the first look at the first Daredevil costume. The new cast additions are Ayelet Zurer playing Vanessa Marianna, Vondie Curtis Hall playing Ben Urich, Toby Leonard Moore playing Wilson Fisk's right hand man Wesley, Bob Gunton playing Leland Owlsley, and confirming that Rosario Dawson will be playing Claire Temple. The costume, as you can see on the left, is different than the more traditional Daredevil costume.
Civil War on the Horizon?
The biggest news of the week came courtesy of a report by Variety that Robert Downey Jr has joined the cast of Captain America 3 and that Marvel will use this movie to start their Civil War story line. We wrote an entire article about Downey joining Cap 3, which you can read here.
T.I. is Ant-Man's Homeboy
T.I. has been making the press rounds recently to promote his new album. He finally gave us our first piece of information on his character. He did not say whether he is a villain or not but did say that he will be a "superhero's homeboy."
Race to be Doctor Strange
Two weeks ago we learned that Joaquin Phoenix had pulled out of the Doctor Strange race and that Marvel was going to start over their search. This week we have heard at least 12 different names in contention, including the man who was said to be done. The other men in consideration are Ryan Gosling, Ewan McGregor, Jared Leto, Matthew McConaughey, Ethan Hawke, Oscar Isaac, Jake Gyllenhaal, Keanu Reeves, Justin Theroux, Collin Farrell, and Benedict Cumberbatch. Gosling has reportedly already met with Marvel and McGregor has scheduled to do so. New reports today suggests that Phoenix is actually not in the running.
