Writer and Director for Spider-Man Reboot Found

Less than a month ago, Sony and Marvel announced a ground breaking partnership that will bring Spider-Man to the MCU. The reboot will send Spider-Man (Either Miles Morales or Peter Parker) back to high school. Fans have already started making their lists of who they want to play Spider-Man (I did the same thing).

Today, Latino-Review dropped the big news that Sony and Marvel have found the man they want to write and direct the reboot, which may be called Spectacular Spider-Man.

Drew Goddard is that man. Goddard was originally a producer on Marvel and Netflix's Daredevil, but left that project to helm the Sinister Six film that Sony was planning. That plan and all other spin-off ideas by Sony have been scrapped for now.

Here are some other things that Latino-Review is hearing from their sources-

  • No new origin story, Spidey exists from the beginning, taken as a given
  • New actor, probably an unknown, he will be specifically based in High School and they want him to be able to grow up into the role.  The thought being if this works, Spidey can do multiple trilogies for years ala Harry Potter.
  • A major part of the first film will involve Spider- Man fighting Iron Man and then trying to pass the “audition” to join the Avengers
  • The first film will involved the Sinister Six coming together with the thought to later maybe spin them off.
They also squash a rumor generated by Reddit that Dylan O'Brien has already been cast for the lead role.

If the above information is true, and based off of Latino-Review's track record, it is, then it seems that Tony Stark and Peter Parker/Miles Morales will share the screen in the first Spider-Man movie, after he is possibly introduced in Captain America: Civil War. Could that be what Robert Downey Jr.'s big announcement is in three days?
